Landmark Diner in the Landmark Diner Side Lounge in Atlanta from 11:00am to 12:00pm. The Piccadilly Puppets presents a puppet show, Once Upon a Time in China, to benefit the AFLAC Cancer Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

“Swirling Soiree: An Evening of New Dances, Great Finds, and Tasty Eats” is a performance, reception and silent auction to benefit Georgia Ballet. At 7 pm Feb. 4 at the Murray Arts Center in Kennesaw.

Beyond the Superbowl…

Heirloom’s Lawrenceville Rubber Stamp and Paper Arts Festival begins at 10 am on Feb. 4 and 11 am Feb. 5 at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds in Lawrenceville.

Northside Drive Baptist Church’s, 3100 Northside Dr. NW, Atlanta, GA, 30305,  Music on the Hill series continues with string trios by Beethoven, Dohnanyi and Ramirez at 3 p.m. Feb. 5.

Bach Bowl, which will offer Bach concertos from pianists Keiko and William Ransom and organists Tamara and Timothy Albrecht, and a performance by the Vega String Quartet. It begins at 4 pm. Feb. 5 at Emory University’s Schwartz Center for Performing Arts.

"African Americans at the Smith Plantation" Exhibit

This exhibit places the history of African Americans who worked at the Smith Plantation in a greater context of the history of African Americans in the American South. It sheds light on those who served the Smith Family and journeyed with them from the coast. This exhibit demonstrates the progression of the home from a time when African Americans labored as slaves to a time when the home was actually the residence of an African American woman. Come Ya! - Exploring Gullah Culture at Barrington Hall

Exhibit explores the unique Gullah culture of the Georgia coastal area, the language, food and Roswell connections to this rich cultural tradition with African origins. Included with regular tours throughout the month of February. 770-640-3855.

11th Annual Roswell Roots

11th Annual Roswell Roots, celebrating Black History & Culture. The agenda is full of both new programs, events and exhibits as well as the return of many favorites. For children, the festival is hosting a touring show called “Heroes of the Underground Railroad” plus book events. For the foodies, we’re bringing back Sallie Ann Robinson at Barrington Hall who will be cooking up some good Gullah food while telling great stories plus we’re introducing the first “Cornbread Cook-Off” at Pleasant Hill Community Center. The Unity Concert and “Slammin’ in the Suburbs” Poetry Slam are favorite annual events which are returning. And, our headliner event this year is a performance by “The McIntosh County Shouters” with an intro by artist, historian and UGA professor, Art Rosenbaum. These plus five month-long exhibits provide something entertaining and educational for everyone to enjoy! True Americana Series 8:00 PM

True Americana Series presented at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center: MacIntosh County Shouters. The McIntosh County Shouters were named “Master Artists” of the Authentic Ring Shout by the National Endowment for the Arts in 2008. The Shouters, from McIntosh County, Georgia, perform traditional call-and response song and dance, which have plantation origins and are historically important as examples of communication and expressions of faith. These preservers of this unique tradition have performed at the Kennedy Center and the Library of Congress. 8:00 P.M.;$30 per person. www.roswellpresents.com

Lecture

Rabbi Mark Borovitz, senior Rabbi and spiritual leader of the Beit T’Shuvah recovery program in Los Angeles, will speak to the metro Atlanta community at 7 PM on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Temple Beth Tikvah, 9955 Coleman Road in Roswell. 
Rabbi Borovitz is the author of “The Holy Thief: A Con man’s Journey from Darkness to Light,” which chronicles his journey from drinker and con man to Rabbi and community leader. Mark draws attention to the problem of addiction and to the powerful ammunition against it, both in counteraction and prevention..

Alpharetta/Roswell Newcomers’ Club

ARNC is a social club welcoming women new to the area and those that are looking for new acquaintances, adventures and activities. After a presentation by Vonda Malbrough from North Fulton Community Charities we will be breaking into groups to play board and tile games. A lunch of pizza and soda will be provided.  A $10.00 donation from attendees will be going to NFCC as they launch their “Have a Heart” campaign. Cooking

Barrington Hall kicks off its 2012 cooking class season with Chef John Wilson. Chef Wilson will draw upon his many years as a professional chef and cooking class teacher to present his Basic Cooking Techniques series. You will learn to prepare a full meal from main course to dessert in the spacious kitchen of this historic home. Chef Wilson teaches cooking techniques in European, International and American cuisines.

Ludwig Symphony Orchestra presents "A Beethoven Romance for Valentine's Day" on Saturday February 11 at 7:30pm.
The evening's performance features internationally renowned first prize winner of the Paganini International Violin Competition-Bin Huang interpreting the popular Dvorak Violin Concerto and world class baritone-Jose Sacin singing arias by Rossini, Gounod, and Mozart. A Taste of Holcomb Bridge

Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 6:00-8:00pm, hosted by the Holcomb Bridge Middle School PTA. With the theme, “A Passport to the World,” families are invited to contribute a dish from their country of origin and celebrate the many different cultures represented in the area.
Tickets can be purchased at the door only for $5 a person/$20 per family.
